Southern Quality Produce Pty Ltd (SQP) is the pre-eminent accumulator of grain in Southern Victoria. This has come about through rigorous risk management; strong commercial focus and oversight; intensive customer and product development; and a committed body of Co-operative grain producers working in the best interests of one another.

This risk averse business model is well-suited to the current environment of unprecedented market volatility, substantial industry upheaval and market deregulation – especially with a strong focus on the procurement of grain into Pools, which are actively marketed over an extended window to capture the year-round consumptive demand and generate strong premiums for grower participants.

SQP maintains a strong regional focus across Southern Victoria, where production risk is reduced due to the more reliable rainfall pattern and longer growing season – lending itself to the production of high-yielding, premium-quality grains. Through intensive supply-chain management, our unimpeded market access into domestic and export customers drives value back to the farm gate.

Southern Quality Produce Pty Ltd (SQP) was created through a joint venture between Southern Quality Produce Co-operative Ltd and Emerald Group Australia Pty Ltd in June 2007. This innovative new organisation provides a high level of service and transparent, competitive marketing products to grain producers across Victoria.

The two entities combine a vast level of domestic and international trading experience, commercial nous and a strong base of grower support across the Co-operative member network. This new Victorian grain industry joint venture capitalises on the rapid industry changes, by joining together farmers and grains industry professionals and is the first of its kind in Eastern Australia.
